Affiliate marketing Tips & Resources

Best Buy Remix opened up it’s doors and officially took the beta tag off just a few months back while at South by Southwest 2009. Since then we have been collecting data from developers, expanding the API capabilities and listening to your requests. One of the needs that we have noticed among many of our developers was that they are great at building things, but don’t have the best grasp on marketing or in utilizing the affiliate marketing opportunities that are possible through the use of the Remix API.

The Affiliate & Best Buy Remix Mashup

If you are a developer or budding developer utilizing the Best Buy Remix API there is also an opportunity to leverage the Affiliate program as well through the Best Buy catalog. Commission Junction our affiliate partner has many resources and tutorials on their site. Many of them are listed here at CJ University. However, we have a few tips that are specific to maximizing your click through with the Best Buy Affiliate program as well.

Tips for using the Best Buy Affiliate program through CJ (Commission Junction)

1. Content

Niche content with a specific focus always seems to outperform that of a general link through to Best Buy. An example of this would be producing content around digital photography. You have the ability through the Best Buy Remix API to pull information, thumbnails, availability and more on very specific cameras and accessories. Why not do a review on a camera that you currently own by giving a video presentation? How about pointing people to research you have done on specific accessories. By adding valued content to your readers or viewers you will create trust, SEO, and folks will be much more likely to visit your site as a trusted source of information. This leads to a higher click through and rate of sale.

2. In Store Pick Up

Best Buy offers In Store Pickup. This is often very convenient for a buyer as they are able to order from the web and simply pick up the item from the store. This gives them a physical location close by to take an item back if they ever need service or help and allows you to generate affiliate income on the sale of the product. Be sure that you inform your reader of this option.

3. The ‘National Featured Products’ feature

The Remix API is now offering the data around our nationally featured products. Publishing this information on a website or mobile application has a huge amount of potential. Add these items to your current niche content or application and people will be sure to visit back with you week after week. Give people a clear and easy way to click through on the items and maybe offer a bit of personal recommendation on certain products. This will all help your click through rate and ultimately help you make more sales.

These are just a few suggestions on how you can utilize the Remix API in combination with the Affiliate Program. We will discuss more ideas and tips in the future, so please stay tuned. In the meantime here are a few of my favorite affiliate marketing resources:
